Doomsday for Marvel Studios?

I need to remind myself that the initial idea for these daily bulletin posts was to get myself back into writing every day and putting up quick thought pieces rather than lengthy articles, but as with everything I do, I’m prone to getting carried away. It’s also not intended to act as a movie news outpost either, but as it goes, Marvel Studios just announced a few things at the San Diego Comic Con yesterday. So let’s talk about the Marvel Burn Out for a little bit today.

The news that Ryan Gosling will be playing the MCU’s Ghost Rider in a film directed by Shawn Levy for release in 2028, and that Ryan Coogler is returning to helm Black Panther III with David Jonsson stepping into the role of T’Challa, feel very much to me like the recent trailer for Avengers: Doomsday. I’m not moved much in either direction. It all sounds… fine. As someone who probably stayed seated on the MCU bandwagon a little longer than most, I now acutely feel the superhero burn out that plenty of people were talking about years ago.

The Razorwire Reviews Daily Bulletin #2

“I know what’s real.”

Picking up right where the last bulletin left off, after the initial drop of a plot synopsis and the first images of Blade Runner 2099 yesterday, we’ve now got a release date and a trailer! The series will release on Amazon Prime on November 25th, which is interesting as it was very recently being projected for release in 2027. I think there’s been some talk of trouble with the production of this one, and two years of post production/a shroud of mystery over the project probably fuels that stuff. Let’s hope it’s more of a case of them making sure they really nail the visuals of such a rich world and that it will live up to the two films in that regard at least.

The trailer looks very promising as far as I’m concerned, but sure, when you’re building off of two sci-fi masterpieces it’s just a hard act to follow in every possible way. I think at a glance there seems to be an understanding of the aesthetic and a real effort to maintain and build upon it. I can’t wait to see it.

“Big things have small beginnings.“

Welcome to my website, and a renewed attempt at getting back into regular writing, something I’ve loved since I was a young, and the genesis of “RazorwireReviews” in the first place. Fifteen years ago I began a site (“I do a blog…”) with that name focused on reviewing wrestling. This quickly transitioned into a YouTube channel which I’ve maintained fairly consistently ever since, the blog long since abandoned. More about that in the About section!

This is not just the start of a new website but a daily bulletin series, something to hopefully keep anyone with even a passing interest in what I have to say about films and physical media checking back for new posts, a quick selection of thoughts that I typically have every single day about films, physical media and movie news, things like that. Almost like… a social media account! Only instead of throwing out my thoughts to a chorus of silence on Twitter or Instagram, I can enjoy the crickets from the comfort of my very own website, dot com and all!

I’m famously awful at maintaining anything so it’ll be interesting to see how long I can keep this particular venture up, but I’m at my desk and on my phone every single day so, there should really be no excuse. Whether or not I’ll have anything compelling to talk about will be up to whoever might read these I suppose, but while I joke about my words going out into the ether here, I do encourage comments! And I would love to engage in some back and forth discussions in the same way I would in my YouTube comments section. We’ll see. Early days.
